Are you looking to create the ultimate laundry room? Well your’er in luck because I am going to share all the space saving and design ideas we are implementing in our space.
Who enjoys doing laundry? No one I know, so why not design a space that is practical, beautiful and makes the chore a pleasant one. With a family of 6, I end up spending more time than I prefer washing and folding clothes. I desire this space to function as a multipurpose room with well organized open shelves, utility closet, ironing board and large farm sink.
Laundry Room Floor Plan

Maximize Storage
The ceiling in our laundry room is 10ft high so designing our cabinetry to touch the ceiling will not only look better but maximize storage where possible. I love the concept of open shelving so I added a few for easy access of products I use regularly such as detergent, Mrs. Meyer’s Dryer Sheets etc. It will also be nice to display a succulent, baskets or fresh towels which will create a styled appearance.
Desiring a clutter free space, I included a tower cabinet to store our broom, dust pan and mop. In between the tower cabinet and open shelves is a drying bar to hang delicates. By the kitchen sink there is a pull out trash can. And conveniently located by the dryer will be a drawer with a pull out ironing board. (I am loving this space saver)!

Open Shelves

Open shelves are handy to store regularly used items such as soap, linen spray and decorative touches.
Custom Folding Table

On the right side of our dryer there is an oval window. It will be here where I will have a custom built table to sort and fold clothes. I believe this will create another design feature and not overwhelm the space with more cabinetry. Under the table will be a pair of farmhouse rolling laundry baskets.

Design Elements In The Space
Mood Board

Riad Tile

Cement Tile
The laundry room is the perfect place to have fun with your design selections! I chose Riad Tiles Havana Grey for the floor and honed 3 x 6 subway marble for the backsplash. The marble will touch the ceiling to create height and interest.
Cabinetry

Cabinetry for the laundry room is a great place to introduce some color! We will be going with Sherwin Williams Stream for the perfect shade of blue. Remember that custom folding table I told you about, well I want that wood to be stained. I think the added contrast will be appealing.
Farm Sink/Faucet
I have partnered with Kingston Brass for our beautiful farm sink and faucet! The details are gorgeous on this 33″ sink. I love the shaker style front, it provides a vintage vibe along with plenty of room to wash anything!

Lighting

I have partnered with Capitol lighting and picked the Morland Wall Swing Lamp from Savoy House in Warm Brass. This will be above our laundry sink window.
